SLCene Suggests: “This Is Digital” with the Salt Lake Film Society
THIS IS DIGITAL, BROADWAY CENTRE CINEMAS AND TOWER THEATRE, March 8-13
Fans of indie film watched, and helped, the Salt Lake Film Society successfully rally through a fundraising campaign the last couple years, ultimately installing new digital projectors (six at the Broadway, one at the Tower). The upgrade wasn’t merely an aesthetic choice, although the digitally remastered classics on display through the “This Is Digital” mini-film-fest will quickly show all who supported the effort that it was money well spent. The fact is, the film industry is changing in such a way that not upgrading could have meant the end of our local arthouse. So kudos to Salt Lake Film Society and its fans. To celebrate, the SLFS is hosting a series of four newly remastered classics, all running Friday through Thursday, March 14, including Samsara, Lawrence of Arabia, From Here to Eternity and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
